Assalamu'alaikum dan salam sejahtera....

Isk..isk...isk...bertahun rupanya blog ni menyepi tanpa sebarang cerita dan berita....hmmm...maklumlah selama ni tak ada akses internet....sekaranglah baru dapat guna jalur lebar ni sebab la ni dah balik semula ke Kota Kinabalu, bersatu semula satu keluarga..Alhamdulillah...

Akhirnya bergelar suri rumah setelah berbelas tahun berkerjaya....Alhamdulillah, walaupun bersara awal dapat jugalah merasa hasilnya...ramai juga yang bertanya ada perancangan lain ke?Dapat bisnes bagus ke?Mesti ada yang lebih hebat menanti kan? Memang hebat.....my precious time with family....!! Tidak terfikir lagi nak mencari pekerjaan lain..buat masa ini menguruskan rumahtangga dan persekolahan anak-anak...masa akan datang tak pasti...Setahun merasa keluarga terpecah (Sabah - Rawang) tidak betah melalui kehidupan seperti itu...rela melepaskan kerjaya agar keluarga tetap bersatu...anak-anak masih memerlukan bimbingan kedua ibu bapa...hidup hanya sementara, tidak pasti sampai bila boleh bersama maka selagi ada peluang biarlah tetap bersama di bawah satu bumbung...

Semoga Allah senantiasa melimpahkan Rahmat dan BarakahNya....Amin

Sacrifice

One morning while I was driving to work, hoping not to be trapped in traffic jam,(o dear....I miss my housewife title) I was listening to Santapan Minda Sinar FM conveyed by Dr. Fadhilah Kamsah. He talked about teacher. I liked one of his phrase, "teachers are not like candle which burn itself to give light to others, but teachers are like sun, shine for others without burning itself". yeaahhh....me tooo...I don't want to be candle I want to be sun...shining others and make myself happy. Sacrifice for others but not to sacrifice myself as well. I can sacrifice for my family; my husband, my sons and my daughter....but my sacrifice will not be in vain....I hope so...even though we are scattered but we are still one...the loneliness and unhappiness..now.. are the sacrifice for future happiness...is that like candle???

My laptop doesn't has the arabic letters.....so the title was written like that, it means picnic at the beach. Last Saturday, 31 July 2010, I brought my children to Tanjung Aru beach for recreation. The boys played football and my girl build the sand castle helped by her little brother. Me? Just enjoying watching them and the scenery. My hubby? Unfortunately he wasn't around...duty call, out-stationed for three weeks....down-under...missssed him...

One day, my neighbour, Kak Ita gave me rendang pucuk paku. Its delicious, thanks Kak Ita. The rendang reminded me of another traditional food; rendang pucuk ubi. I used to eat this long time ago, my sister in law, Allahyarhamah Kak Ngah Azizah loves to make this rendang (semoga Allah mencucuri rahmat ke atas ruhnya...Amin). It was very delicious. Then, based on my vague memory and recipes from internet, I tried to cook the rendang. It was yummy but not very crunchy...it supposed to be crunchy!!..I need to improvise it...I think the coconut milk was not enough...never mind I will try again...meanwhile just enjoy what I've prepared...lalala

Family Visit

During the last school holiday, we were visited by one of my family whom the children called Kak Rozi. She was here following her school vacation trip, therefore her scheduled was packed. The last night she was here we went to eat dinner together at the Grace Point. She got the chance to come to our house on her last day in KK. Apa lagi makan2 lah kita....

Then during the National Tilawah which was held at Kota Kinabalu this year, we were visited by Pak Dah and Mak Dah. Pak Dah was assigned for duty at the tilawah. They stayed at our home. Even though they were here for about five days, we seldom have time together. They were busy with their own tasks and arrangements. At last we able to go out together on Sunday. We went to Pasar Tamu at Gaya Street; craft shopping, after that we were invited by one of their friend for a kenduri. At night, we were eating out, again at Grace Point, Sembulan, the area of Double Six Monument, the place where the plane boarded by Chief Minister Tun Fuad Stephen and ten others including his eldest son crashed on June 6,1976. We like to bring our visitors especially from Semenanjung to eat here because it has varieties of foods including steamboat, Indian cuisine, Korean, Thai, choices of noodles, satay, Malay foods and not forgetting Sabah Ethnic foods such as ambuyat, hinava and others.

Exam Preparation: UPSR

In order to get excellent result for UPSR 2010, SK Kepayan organised programmes for parents and students separately. For parents, the school held the parenting seminar, tips on how parents should handle and support their children for the exam. The talk was given by the counselor from Jabatan Pelajaran Sabah.

The teachers also took the initiative to motivate the students for UPSR by organizing the Motivational Program handled by the teachers themselves and the motivational activities was given by one of the teacher who is certified motivator. The programme was held at multipurpose hall, Arkib Negara Malaysia Cawangan Sabah. Hopefully these efforts will be fruitful.

I was surprised of myself when I log in my blog....2 months not updated! What's wrong with me? Am I don't have enough time? Nothing to write about? or just lazy...?? PROGRAM PENYERAHAN KOLEKSI RAKYAT “MERDEKA 1MALAYSIA”

1. TUJUAN

Sempena Sambutan Hari Kemerdekaan 2010, Arkib Negara Malaysia bertanggungjawab melaksanakan Program Muhibah Merdeka dan Modal Insan. Aktiviti yang dilaksanakan sempena program ini adalah bersifat muhibah yang menekankan aspek kerja amal, apresiasi, ekspresi dan pembangunan minda masyarakat dengan melibatkan penyertaan seluruh masyarakat, berteraskan konsep 1Malaysia. Antara pengisian aktiviti yang dijalankan adalah Program Penyerahan Koleksi Rakyat “MERDEKA 1MALAYSIA” berkonsepkan pertandingan.

Program Penyerahan Koleksi Rakyat “MERDEKA 1MALAYSIA” ini dilaksanakan bertujuan untuk:

Menarik penglibatan seluruh rakyat Malaysia yang mempunyai koleksi persendirian untuk diserahkan kepada Arkib Negara Malaysia.
Mendidik rakyat ke arah kecenderungan untuk menyimpan dan memelihara bahan-bahan berkaitan sejarah Negara.
Mewujudkan semangat patriotisme di kalangan rakyat Malaysia melalui penyerahan bahan-bahan sejarah Negara untuk rujukan generasi kini dan akan datang.
Meningkatkan koleksi bahan Arkib Negara Malaysia berkaitan cara dan gaya rakyat Malaysia menyambut Hari Kemerdekaan.

Program ini melibatkan seluruh lapisan masyarakat di Negara ini yang mempunyai koleksi bahan berkaitan pelbagai aktiviti menyambut Hari Kemerdekaan dan Hari Malaysia, untuk menyerahkan bahan kepada Arkib Negara Malaysia. Bagi tujuan pertandingan, bahan yang diterima bermula 1 Julai sehingga 20 Ogos 2010 akan dipilih dan dinilai berdasarkan kriteria-kriteria yang ditetapkan.

2. SYARAT PENYERTAAN

i. Terbuka kepada SEMUA rakyat Malaysia.

ii. Penyertaan dibahagikan kepada 3 kategori (bahan):

iii. Bahan mestilah berkaitan Sambutan Kemerdekaan 1957-2009 dan Sambutan Hari Malaysia 1963-2009 di seluruh negara.

iv. Tiada jumlah bahan yang dihadkan bagi setiap penyertaan yang dihantar.

v. Setiap bahan yang dihantar mestilah BAHAN ASAL.

vi. Semua *bahan yang disumbang akan dinilai dan menjadi HAK MILIK Arkib Negara Malaysia untuk simpanan kekal. (*Bahan akan didaftar atas nama penyumbang)

vii. Panel Hakim akan dilantik dan keputusan Panel Hakim adalah MUKTAMAD.

viii. Tarikh tutup pertandingan adalah pada 20 OGOS 2010.

Semua penyertaan akan dinilai berdasarkan kriteria berikut:

Room mates

Thank you Mak Dah for visiting us, even though you were tide up with your program here in KK but you spared your time for us. We were happy to have you here though in a short time (11th April-13th April 2010). 'Iffah was glad you shared room with her because she always afraid to sleep alone. On Sunday we went to Abang Zam's house, he and Kak Ida prepared "ketam masak lemak cili api" for us (walaupun Ida demam). On Monday we went to Craft Market or its famous name, Pasar Filipina to buy gifts. And the last day, we visit again the Craft Market in the morning; more gifts needed! 2.oop.m we went to airport. Short but meaningful visit, thank you Mak Dah, come again with Abang Naufal and Pak Dah.

Mini Maha Peringkat Negeri Sabah 2010

Saturday, 28th March we went to Mini MAHA (Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism)Show Peringkat Negeri Sabah at Padang Merdeka Kota Kinabalu. Various types of agricultural and sea products were sell there. We also got the chance to see various kind of animals such as ostrich, cows, buffaloes and goats.

Pak Zie & Family's Visit

We were truly excited when Pak Zie and family visited us in KK. They arrived on 13th March and stayed until 16th March 2010. While in KK we took them to Gaya Street Pasar Tamu and bbq at Teluk Likas. They also stayed at Zamzuri's house in Tuaran for one night. The next morning, they went to Poring Hot Spring (Ranau) and Kinabalu Park (Kundasang). The final day of visit, they went to Lok Kawi Wild Life Park and of course the Philippine Market in the city. Such a short visit but was very meaningful and cheerful.

Today...25th February 2010 is the graduation day for my beloved husband after one and a half years struggling at Curtin Technology University, Bentley Campus, Perth, Australia. The conferment of his Master degree ceremony will be held at 7.00p.m. Congratulation my hubby, even though I'm not there witnessing your happy day, my heart and wishes always with you. The children and I are very proud of you...HAPPY GRADUATION DAY! Can't wait to see you again with the scroll in your hand...

Life is full of choices...we always have two or more choices in every decision that we have to make. Either we want to eat western food, oriental food, eastern food or Malay food...we can choose cold drinks or hot drinks, or we are free to choose what to wear for dinner with friends...always more choices...but why we always in hesitance to make a choice? Especially the important choice in life....Every choices we have, has implication...good outcomes and bad outcomes. Whatever choice we choose let it be the most likely making our life better, comfortable and great effect to us and our loves one. But if it turned out to be disappointment, still we are not making wrong choice...but actually we have choose to learn out of our mistakes. Therefore, we will be more mature in future to make choices!!

Sudah lama Lavendar Harum ini tidak dikemaskinikan. Tibanya tahun baru tiada sebarang berita atau cerita yang dimuatkan...bukannya tiada apa yang hendak dikongsikan, cuma tidak berkesempatan untuk duduk di hadapan laptop dan menulis lakaran hidup. Tahun baru ini menyaksikan dua orang anakandaku akan menduduki peperiksaan UPSR dan PMR, bermakna bertambahlah aktiviti dalam jadual kehidupan seharian. Semoga anak-anak ini tabah berusaha dengan gigih untuk mengulangkaji matapelajaran yang telah ketinggalan. Ada kelapangan akan ku jengah lagi halaman ini....

Angah's Birthday - 20th November 2009

On the Aidil Adha we also celebrated the belated birthday of Angah which actually fall on 20th November 2009. This was because he wanted to celebrate it with grandma who came to Kota Kinabalu on 24th November 2009. Grandma sponsored the cake above!!

To Kundasang and Hot Spring

Hot Spring

During the grandma's visit to Kota Kinabalu we got the chance to bring her and Asyura to Kundasang and Poring. Kundasang is where the Mount Kinabalu situated and Poring is famous with its hot spring. The journey to Poring is about 3 hours drive from KK. We stayed one night at Kundasang. In Kundasang we went to Kinabalu Park and War Memorial.

Picnic at Tanjung Aru Beach

Not in a plan, one morning, my hubby at work, I decided to bring my children and mother in law to have a rest at the beach...the nearest beach to our home is Tanjung Aru, about 15 to 20 minutes drive. With the balance of the food for breakfast that morning (fried noodle and milo) we spend half a day at the beach. After that we have a bite of pizza...nenek's treat...hmmmmm nenek always being generous to grandchildren isn't it?

On 5th December my brother in law with his family came to visit us at KK. The next day we went to Pasar Tamu Kota Kinabalu and Philippines Market. The day after, they went to Hot Spring and Kundasang, spend one day over there. They also took the chance to go to Labuan together with my mother in law on 8th December...I cannot go with them because my hubby was working and have to go to K.L. that afternoon. On the last day they were here, I brought my sister in law and the children to Lok Kawi Wild Life Park, Hasif did not want to go, he stayed at home with nenek and uncle.

I got a letter from Hasif's teacher invited the parents to attend talk on Healthy Food Storage and demonstration of healthy food on 17th November 2009 at 9.00a.m.

The talk and demonstration were delivered by the KEMAS staff.

Here I want to share the recipes we've learned; Chicken Boxing and Lemonade Mango Juice.

Chicken Boxing

Ingredients:

10 chicken wings
2 cups of breadcrumbs
1 cup of wheat flour or fried chicken flour
2 eggs (beaten)
oil for frying

How to:

1. Cut the wings according to your taste
2. Marinate the chicken with ginger and garlic
3. Coat the chicken with flour and dip into the egg; then coat with breadcrumb
4. Deep-fry

Lemonade Mango Juice

Ingredients:

4 ripe mangoes
2 lemons sugar to taste
1 TBS honey
Some ice-cube
Boiled water

How to:

1. Blend the mango with sugar and honey
2. Add lemon juice into the blended ingredients
3. Add water to your taste.

Lunch at Ganang Villa, sorry, kampung style...on the floor...(tikar pun tak sempat beli lagik)

On 15th November 2009, my colleague, Che Din and her family came to Kota Kinabalu for holiday. My husband and I met them at the KKIA and invited them to our house for lunch. I felt so happy to meet her as if the whole Counseling Services Department's staff were here...miss you all!! Even though not much we can talk about because of short time (she's here for about three days only with full itinerary planned) but I am glad to meet her again and get to know her family as well. Yeahh...we've been working together for about 4 years plus (included my unpaid leave years) i've never met her parents. Nice to meet you all...Nabihah is a big girl already...'Iffah also excited to get the chance playing with Nabihah. Che din, I hope you enjoyed your vacation, and do come again.....(don't forget to share your experience in your blog!! I'm waiting....)

On 6th December 2009 Tabika KEMAS Kepayan organised the Graduation day for the six year old children. Early in the morning we get ready to go to Dewan Sa'adah at Wisma MUIS, Kota Kinabalu to attend the event. Hasif's got the robe a day earlier.

When we arrived there, not many people were there yet. The programme started at about 9.00a.m. with the presentation of martial art by Tabika Ganang A's children followed by speeches from the honourable guests.

Immediately after that the presentation of certificates begun. The programme was ended by the Satu Malaysia dance performed by the children.

After exploring Tamu Besar in Kota Belud, we continued our journey to Durian Feast at Ranau. To go there we passed by Kundasang, the place where Mount Kinabalu is situated. The view in Kundasang was very breathtaking and the breeze was cool and refreshing.

Pesta Durian was officiated by YB Dato' Masidi Manjun, The Sabah's Minister of Tourism,Culture and Environment. In Sabah the durian's price is expensive compared to Semenanjung from RM4(very small durian) onwards per Kilo. I still remember we bought two durians for RM50. And I have experience ate the red durian they called it dalit. It's taste different from the regular durian that we eat, not really my taste.

Tamu Besar Kota Belud

On 25th October 2009 we got the opportunity to go to Tamu Besar in Kota Belud. It was said to be held once a year. It is a big market which sell varieties of goods, foods and products. There were also exhibition and cultural activities. Normally, Pasar tamu is held during weekend which most of the goods sell are agricultural products such as vegetables and fruits.

Hmmm...congratulation to my nephew, Zam and his wife for the possession of their first and new house in Tuaran. We were able to visit his house after he got the keys. He is planning to move in by early next year. His house is situated about 45 minutes driving from my house.

Tanjung Aru Beach

On the 10th October 2009, Along's class had a farewell party at Tanjung Aru first beach, so I take this opportunity to bring my children enjoying themselves for swimming while waiting for Along to finish his programme. My hubby was unable to join us because he went to Kuching, Sarawak for Hari Malaysia programme. The children were very happy, they missed their swimming lesson. Tanjung Aru is one of tourists destination in Kota Kinabalu. besides swimming, recreational activities such as kayaking, boating, telematch and others also available here.

Hahaha...Syawal already passed by but my story of hari raya still unfinished. On 4th October (Sunday) my hubby's staff came to ziarah our house with their family..Full house! Sorry, have to sit on the floor, not enough chairs...

We met our classmates during university years after a long time. Zul (UUM) attended the Seminar here at KK, and we took the chance to invite him to our house together with Suhaimi (UMS). On the third raya, at 9.00a.m. we started our journey to Kg. Saradan, Tenghilan visited one of my hubby's staff, Mr. Sidan. at about 10.00a.m. we met him at Pekan Tuaran and continued the journey to his house and reached there at about 11.00a.m. we thought his house near the town but as matter of fact it is far towards the hillside. His house is near the river and padi field, very beautiful scenery and windy too. We were told that there are about 500 muslim families living here. The village is provided with electricity but no water supply. They get the water from the hill and well. To get the clean water sometimes they buy it from the water dispenser at Pekan Tenghilan. Thank you Mr. Sidan & family for the delicious chicken rice...

Afterwards, we went to another staff's house, Hj Perman, at Mengkabong not far from Pekan Tuaran. On the way, we stopped at Masjid Tuaran for zuhur prayer. His house is very near to the sea, or shall we say it above the sea?! See the picture of the houses there...

First 'Eidul-Fitr at the Land Below the Wind

Alhamdulillah, muslims of the world once again completed the Ramadhan fasting for this year, congratulations to all the successful Muslims!! Hopefully we will be able to meet Ramadhan next year... Happy 'Eidul-Fitr to all, may we celebrate our success moderately and full of repentance and gratefulness towards Allah SWT.

This time my family and I celebrated hari raya in Sabah. We went to Solat 'Eidu-Fitr at Masjid Bandaraya. Masya Allah, a lot of people, some of them came on foot, buses, cars, pick-ups, lorries even trailer..amazing yeaah; the spirit to perform sunat 'Eidul-Fitr made them came as early as 6.00 in the morning. We arrived there at about 10 minutes before 7.00 and the masjid was already full. The solat (and khutbah) started at 7.45a.m. and ended at about 9.00a.m.

After solat, we went straight home and visited our neighbours and vice versa.There are only 3 Muslim families living near my home. In the afternoon we went to Datu Royniesham's house at Kuala Menggatal, unfortunately I forgot to bring the camera...

However, wherever we spend 'Eidul-Fitr we still happy to be together but undoubtedly, we always remember our family, relatives and friends back home...and not to forget, our friends in Perth and Oman (Hawari's family)...Selamat Hari Raya semua, maaf zahir dan batin...."kullu `aam wa antum bilkhair".

1st September 2009......first day of school for my children since coming back from Perth...fuhh...after several processes, at last they are able to be in white uniform again...Along and Angah went to SMK Tansau, Penampang; Alang and Kak Teh went to SK Kepayan, Kota Kinabalu and Hasif on 2nd September started his kindi at Tabika KEMAS. The schools have two sessions, morning and afternoon. Alang class is in the morning while the rests are in the afternoon, Hasif of course in the morning until 11.30a.m. For about two days I drove all of them to and back from school.....three schools with different directions....morning and afternoon...just imagine that with the traffic jam...But then I managed to get school bus for the secondary school, wow! quite expensive, I don't know about other places, but I have to pay RM160 per month for my two sons...murah ka mahal?

Pada 9 hingga 14 Ogos 2009, suami saya telah mengikuti Program Orientasi Pegawai-pegawai Persekutuan yang baru bertugas di Sabah anjuran Jabatan Perpaduan Negara dan Integrasi Nasional Sabah. Kursus ini telah diadakan di Daerah Tawau, Sabah, iaitu di Hotel De Choice dan Pulau Sebatik. Fasa 1 kursus, para peserta didedahkan dengan sejarah, adat resam, struktur organisasi pentadbiran, tarian dan bahasa sukuan kaum di Sabah. Fasa 2 pula, program keluarga angkat di mana para peserta tinggal bersama keluarga angkat di 3 buah kampung di Pulau Sebatik iaitu Kg. Sg. Pukul. Kg. Lahad-lahad dan Kg. Pisak. Para peserta menaiki 2 buah bot untuk ke Pulau Sebatik. Antara aktiviti bersama keluarga angkat adalah acara sukaneka dan gotong-royong membersihkan balai raya di Kg. Lahad-lahad.

Penduduk di 3 buah kampung ini hidup dengan aman harmoni sungguhpun kekurangan kemudahan asas seperti elektrik, air dan jalan tar. Mereka menggunakan generator untuk mendapatkan bekalan elektrik, manakala perigi dan hujan merupakan sumber bekalan air harian mereka. Terdapat sebuah sekolah di kawasan tersebut iaitu SK Panglima Habibullah dan di sinilah tempat majlis penyerahan anak angkat dan sukaneka diadakan.

My first function..

On 6th August 2009, my husband was invited to attend FFM dinner (Festival Filem Malaysia) at Magellan, Sutra Harbour. Of course accompanied by wife....so this is my first formal function to attend since I've been here. Hmmm.....definitly there were so many artists but that night the highlight was the veteran artists because it was the Malam Anugerah Bintang Lagenda. It started a bit late from schedule, waiting for the Tuan Yang Terutama to arrive, thus, ended late also...One thing here, whenever there is a function, there will be the cultural presentation such as traditional dances and singing added into agenda. So, just watch and learn about the culture and life of multiple thribes and races here.

The children were very excited when they saw the moving company's truck. Finally they can play their PS2! On the 17th August our stuffs from Semenanjung had arrived safely but we are still waiting for the car and motorcycle. Both were shipped on 19th August, we have to wait another 10 days....children, we have to stay home and cannot go anywhere...

Yesterday I got a message from a friend, Tunku Nizar (father of Intan Maryam, the baby that I babysit in Perth) informing that his father had passed away. He was 76 years old. Luckily Tunku and Hanisah came back from Perth earlier and able to be with his father more than two weeks. Yeahh...we never know we will lost our beloved one, like I had lost my father and mother....how I miss them....Takziah for Tunku and Hanisah, may Allah blessed his soul...

Mentioning about Intan I miss her and Hawari. They surely grown up, Intan is able to turn over her body

and Hawari, may be he can talk now...I've not heard from Hamidah since they went back to Oman. Alhamdulillah, while they spending their holiday in Malaysia before back to Oman, Hawari and his family were able to come to my house at Bandar Tasik Puteri.

Have I tell you something? A few days before we leaving Perth, my husband got the news that he was transferred to Arkib Negara Sabah branch at Kota Kinabalu. So, I went to human resource and extended my unpaid leave for another 1 and a half year...I felt sorry to my colleagues especially my boss but my husband and family come first in this situation. Now I'm already in Sabah another hijrah, continuing my life here, supporting my husband and caring for my children which I am happy to do so.

We manage to rent a house at Taman Ganang Villa in Penampang district but not far from the city of Kota Kinabalu. It also near to my husband's office. For me the house is quite big, three storeys with 4 rooms and 4 bathrooms. Everyday exercising up and down the stairs. I will post the pictures later, tension mate, the broadband slow bah!

My children still enjoying their life not going to school...I've been to JPN but they asked me to go to schools and asked for vacancy. With the help of my nephew, Zam I went to 3 Secondary schools in KK but unfortunately no vacancy and I went to a primary school but stll waiting for their reply. Looks like I have to explore more schools around here (I'm wondering though why JPN cannot help me make the inquiry like what I've experienced in Perth, we only wait at home and the Education Department do the searching in only one week, my children were able to go to school). Please pray for me that my children can get the school soon.

Alhamdulillah, we were very lucky to have the chance to spend our holiday in Western Australia before going back to Malaysia. Wave Rock Hyden was our dream-list destination. About 4 hours travel by car from Perth we managed to make a day trip.

Believed to have formed over 2700 million years ago, Wave Rock is part of the northern face of Hyden Rock. The shape of the wave is formed by gradual erosion of the softer rock beneath the upper edge, over many centuries

14 metres high, and 110m long.

The colours of the Wave are caused by the rain washing chemical deposits (carbonates and iron hydroxide) down the face, forming vertical stripes of greys reds and yellows.

Alhamdulillah my family and I have returned to Malaysia safely on 23 June 2009. We were very glad to be given the opportunity to experience life abroad which absolutely very precious. I would like to share several events that I missed to post immediately due to time constrain.

Gatherings
Two weeks before departing we held small gathering with some friends. I felt a sting of sadness knowing that we may not see each other again, deep in my heart I hope that our friendship will last forever. Actually, we held two small gatherings but for the latest one I forgot to take pictures, (asyik borak jer) sorry friends, but surely the memories captured in my mind.

My children had already withdrawn from their schools on 12 June 2009 as to prepare for going back to Malaysia. When I met the teachers and staff of the primary and high schools, they were all expressed their sadness and that they will missed the children. Some of them asked me, why not I stay here? I just smile and said my families and friends are in Malaysia and I miss my country.

No doubt I will miss my life here in Perth....the experiences I gained here are precious, and I'm sure my children also feel the same, but we cannot wait to go back to our home land. Therefore, before we leave, we will take the opportunity to stroll around Perth and part of W.A. for the last time......

On May 22, 2009, Hasif's class performed a rainbow dance at the school weekly assembly. Before the presentation, the children were painted on their pretty face with rainbow colours by their teacher. Six days passed by very quickly, its time for Bang Teh, Kak Teh, Faris, Jes and little Hazrat to go back to Malaysia. After enjoying BBQ at Burswood, packed up things and ensure the documents needed were ready, at about 1.40pm we went to airport, deep inside me I felt sad, but I kept telling myself, only one more month then we also will leave Perth for good and join them in Malaysia, Insya Allah... Faris and Jes, thank you for bringing your mum and dad to Perth, and thank you all for staying at our house, it's been very joyful and heartwarming to have all of you here.

The children already started their 2nd term of school after 2 weeks holiday. They went to school and left Mama with quiet and peace day ;>. At times, I miss their noisiness, their quarrelsome, their curious questions during the day, but never mind they will come back from school and bring their 10001 stories.

Anyway, I am very excited waiting for my sister, Kak Teh, Bang Teh, Faris, Jes and their baby Hazrat to come to Perth on 3rd May 2009. They will be here until 9th May 2009. Unfortunately, I can't join them tour the Perth because the children are schooling and I have to babysit. Furthermore, my hubby has classes. It's okay, as long as I can spend my nights with them......

Rainbows and Smiles Day

On 7th April 2009, Bentley Primary School organized Rainbows and Smiles day before they break for school holidays. Iffah was excited, "Mama, teacher said my picture will be posted in the newspaper,". Everyday she asked me when will they send the newspaper (the community newspapers like Examiner and Canning Times which publish once a week are sent to resident home). I asked her, which newspaper but she didn't know. At last, on April 14, the event was published in Canning Times (see newspaper cutting above). Unfortunately, the Canning Times mistakenly put different picture but with her name printed - Iffah Shalin. It was good though that this activity was reported in the newspaper, however it has a role and responsibility to double check the picture and caption before publishing it. Iffah was a bit dissapponted but yet she was still happy because her name was there as I remembered she said, "still, my name is there". Her positive thinking has touched my heart. This is what all parents want from their children to think positive and not easily get frustated. Bravo Iffah!!!

The first term school holiday had started on 10th April until 28th April 2009. Papa is busy for finishing his study this semester, therefore children, you will spend your holiday at home..As usual Bentley Library will be our sweet place to spend time. Last Thursday, the children got the opportunity to join the activity organised by Bentley Library. They were learning to make bug mask, wristband, pencil topper, butterfly and lady bird. This activity was for 4 yrs old to 8th yrs old only, so, only Hasif and Iffah were able to participate; the brothers read books!

I was informed that this coming May, June and July Bang Long and Kak Chik will be celebrating the wedding of their daughter and sons, Ayu, Shukri and Shahir...Congratulations!! I will miss Ayu's wedding but I do hope they will post the pictures in Laman BKK. Insya Allah, I will be able to attend Shukri and Shahir ceremony (I will be going home for good end of June).

To my niece and nephews, you will step into new life. Before getting married, all you have to think off is yourself - making decisions, going shopping or travelling. In other words everything you do only by yourself and for your own good. After marriage your life will be changed - whatever you do have to take into account your beloved spouse and children and not to forget the in-laws (Remember: you are not only getting married to your spouse but also his/her family!).

In marriage, sharing and understanding are also as important as communication and helping each other. I still remember after my wedding ceremony at Malacca, while we were sorting up the dishes to put back in the store, one of our neighbours, (we called her Mak Aji Eton) advised us,"hidup suami isteri ni kena tolong menolong, faham-memahami..." Helping each other, mutual understanding...how to do that if you are not communicating and sharing with your spouse? For husbands, its not lowering your status as husband if you confide your problems with your wife be it your personal, job related, etc, and for wife it will not affect your pride to share with your husband, we are all human beings, we do make mistakes. Sharing and communicating each other help to lessen our burden. Some people may say they don't want to trouble and burden their spouse with their problems, without realising not doing so they actually risk their marriage.

Imagine: You have problem at work place, may be a conflict with your colleague, you not feeling good to go to the office, your job performance going down, your boss questioned you, you get irritated more and more, unconsciously you bring this matter into your family, you become gloomy, quiet, less interaction with your spouse, easily get angry and so on......your spouse getting irritated too, he/she tries to help you, but you don't want to share your problem, not even try to communicate. The spouse tries to be patient but then, BANG, exploded!! Cannot carry on anymore...!! Don't let this happen in your marriage, even simple things you share what more enormous matters. At one point, a husband or a wife often telling themselves that they know and understand their partner very well. Some may say that they always be frank to each other, but what always happen is that they conceal their true feelings. Thus, in order to get to know your spouse better you have to share your likes and dislikes whenever necessary.

Ayu, Shukri, Shahir and all those who want to get married and already get married and to me myself, let us follow the examples given by our Prophet Muhammad SAW and his wives..tender loving, mutual understanding, sharing, communicate, cooperate, entertain each other, doing activities together...and if you have children pay attention to them in every aspects...

A Millionaire & Three Beggars

There was a good-natured millionaire in the town. Three beggars thought of approaching him for help. The first man went to the millionaire and said, "Oh Lord! I want five rupees. Please give me." The millionaire was taken aback at this man impudence. "What! You demand five rupees from me as though I owe you the money! How dare you? How can I afford to give five rupees to a single beggar? Here, take these two rupees and get away," he said. The man went away with the two rupees.

The next beggar went to the millionaire and said, "Oh Lord! I have not taken a square meal for the past ten days. Please help me." "How much do you want?" asked the millionaire. "Whatever you give me Maharaj," replied the beggar. "Here take this ten rupee note. You can have nice food for at least three days." The beggar walked away with the ten rupee note.

The third beggar came. "Oh Lord, I have heard about your noble qualities. Therefore, I have come to see you. Men of such charitable disposition are verily the manifestations of God's love on earth," he said.
"Please sit down," said the millionaire. "You appear to be tired. Please take this food," he said, and offered food to the beggar. "Now please tell me what can I do for you."
"Oh Lord," Replied the beggar; "I merely came to meet such a noble personage that you are. You have given me this rich food already. What more need I get from you? You have already shown extraordinary kindness towards me. May God bless you!"

But the millionaire, struck by the beggar's spirit, begged of the beggar to remain with him, built a decent house for him in his own compound, and looked after him for the rest of his life.

Bentley Primary School organised the Swimming carnival this year on 13th March 2009 at Canning Aqua Center. The second time for my children joining the event. They are still in blue faction, Alhamdulillah their faction achieved second place in the game. Even though my kids were new in swimming and still need to learn more, but they're trying their best to collect points for their faction. It was hot that day, but the children were enjoying themselves.

Bersyukur ke hadhrat Illahi kerana aku dan keluarga diberi peluang untuk menimba pengalaman hidup di negara orang. Segalanya asing...yang paling ketara perbezaan bagi kami adalah cuaca yang ekstrim. Maksudnya, bila musim panas, ia boleh jadi panas yang melampau dan bila musim sejuk pula boleh menjadi sejuk yang melampau walaupun tak ada salji...tapi itu semua pengalaman. Belajar menyesuaikan diri dengan kelainan kehidupan di sini. Sememangnya amat berharga sekali.

Tapi, siapa sangka, aku dapat juga merasa pengalaman tinggal di wad hospital di sini...Royal Perth Hospital. Aku didapati mengalami anemia dan perlu pemindahan darah. Maka duduklah aku di wad selama 2 malam dan dimasukkan 2 pek darah. Anemia...kurang sel darah merah dan juga zat besi di bawah tahap normal. Aku kurang pasti apa penyebabnya, yang pasti makan tetap cukup dan takdalah terlalu sibuk dengan urusan (doktorpun masih mengkaji punca aku kekurangan darah). Kasihan suamiku, ketika itu dia pula tengah sibuk dengan praktikal, pagi-pagi terpaksa bertungkus-lumus didapur memasak untuk sarapan dan makan tengahari anak-anak. Mujur anak-anak sedang bercuti. Agak risau juga bila mengenangkan hanya anak-anak yang tinggal di rumah dari pagi hingga petang, Alhamdulillah, Along boleh diharap untuk menjaga adik-adik. Aku juga kerap menalipon ke rumah bertanyakan keadaan mereka. Aku juga bersyukur kerana rakan kami, Sharifudin sanggup meluangkan masa duduk dengan anak-anakku ketika suami ke hospital dari petang hingga malam menziarahiku dan membawa keperluanku.

Kepada keluargaku di Malaysia, bukannya aku tak mahu memberitahu, tapi cuma tak mahu kalian risau. Usahlah bimbang kerana aku sudahpun pulih, cuma perlu menjaga pemakanan agar cukup seimbang. Terima kasih kepada suami yang terserlah kasih sayangnya dalam menjagaku, terima kasih juga kepada anak-anak yang amat memahami dan terima kasih juga kepada rakan-rakan yang prihatin.

One day, I read my e-mail with my daughter besides me. One of the email was about the cruelty of Israel against Palestine and the called to boycott the products that support Israel. Then slowly my daughter went to sit on bed and cried quietly. I stopped my reading and asked her what made her cry? Then she started to aked me about the pictures of war victims that I received, what was happening, where it happened, why and so on. I explained to her in simple language as I can. Then she asked me about the products pictures. Once again I explained to her, she did not stop crying, "Mama, we cannot eat Maggi, but we have eaten it". (We ate Myojo before that). I have to make her understand the different of Maggi and noodles, because for her any instant noodles is Maggi.

The story does not stop there. She then announced to her brothers (still crying) that they cannot eat Maggi anymore because it will make Israel richer and buy the weapons to kill Muslim. Again I have to explain to my sons what she meant by that. One evening while watching TV, suddenly my youngest son crying besides me. "Mom, I don't want to die". He really surprised me. The TV was not showing anything about death, why should he think about that? I asked him why, he asked me back about the bad people who killed muslim, where it happened, does it happen in Australia, will the bad guys come over to Australia to kill muslim if there's no Muslim anymore in Palestine? Masya Allah, this child think too much. He heard her sister told the story to their brothers and got scared. I calmed him and said to him, bad people is everywhere as well as good people, Hasif can help good people by praying to Allah. "I don't know how to pray, what shall I pray mom?".

See, the little children are very sensitive. They have their concern towards other people. They cannot think as an adult but they able to show their care. Until today they will remind me not to buy Maggi (because only that product they know) even though they like to eat that. If the children can do that, why not we as brilliant grown-up have that care and concern too? Let us pray to Allah SWT to give strength and reward success to Muslim. May Allah assist the Muslim against kaafirun as He helped Muslim in Badar. Allahuakbar!!

So Long.......

1 January 2009, all of us went to airport early in the morning at about 4.45am to send Nenek and Aqilah. Yes, they have to go back to Malaysia because the new school term will start soon. Deep inside I felt sad to let them go, I wish Ibu can stay here until we go back in June 2009, but I have to accept the fact that Ibu also has some other matters to settle. My children also felt sad that nenek been here only for a shortwhile. Thank you nenek and Aqilah for visiting us here and bring the joy, thank you for everything...we will see you again in June Insya Allah....

10th January 2009, a farewell party was organised for our friends, Kak Yus, Abang Solah and family who will go back to Malaysia on 13th January. We only get to know them for about 4 months but it seems we have known them for a long time. Insya Allah, we will visit you in Kedah Kak Yus!

Picnic and sight seeing

It was very exciting to have nenek and cousin here in Perth. We wanted to spend as much time as possible with both of them during their staying here. On 28th December we went for a picnic at Kings Park. Came along was Syarifuddin, a friend from Terengganu. I cooked nasi lemak and made sandwiches.

On 30th December, we went to Abingdon Miniature Village in Mandurah, south of Perth. The name "Abingdon" was chosen from the town of Abingdon in Oxfordshire, located about 10 kilometres south of Oxford on the Thames River and is the oldest continually inhabited town in England. Abingdon Miniature Village was opened to the public for the first time on 1st March 2003. It displays many different styles and models of buildings and farmer's cottage throughout England. Following the theme of miniature, the picnic area, 12 hole mini golf course, maze and landscaped gardens -for those who loves flowers and rare plants- provide a relaxing and enjoyable experience. After that we went to the Halls Head beach and on the way back we prayed 'Asar at Masjid Ar-Rukun in Rockingham. We also stopped at Fremantle and Scarborough Beach near the Perth City.

On 31st December, we went to the Pinnacles Desert Discovery. Subhanallah, it is a unique and spectacular experience within Nambung National Park, near Cervantes, about 250 kilometres north of Perth. Rising mysteriously from the dune sands are thousands of limestone pillars, a landscape in eerie contrast to the surrounding heath. Nambung National Park is one of many protected areas in this world-renowned biodiversity hotspot, where an extraordinary range of wildlife and habitats lie within easy reach of each other. We also went to Margaret River Chocolate Company to taste the chocolate and ate ice creams. Unfortunately, we forgot to take picture here.....

Holiday!!

Wow! I've not updating this blog for quiet sometimes! So many things happened, and the school holiday has started, busy with children at home. One week before the school holiday, on 12 to 14 December we went to the southern part of WA i.e. Albany and Denmark. These places are well known to the tourists for their beautiful scenery, beaches and animals. We went there together with two other families. Its a long journey, about 5 hours driving from Perth (Albany Highway), but we enjoy it very much. The pictures below tell everything.

On 15th December, Hasif's class organised the end of term party at 11.00a.m. Everybody has signed up to bring their own dishes or snacks. Due to tiring journey from Albany, I only brought Twisties for the party. My husband and I also attended the party. Besides socializing with parents and teachers, we had to ensure that Hasif eats halal food brought by other Muslim parents.

On 16th December, Syarafi was having his Year Seven Graduation Day. My husband, my mother in law, my niece and I went to the school to celebrate this event. It was held at 2.00 pm. At 6.00 pm, he went to the graduation dinner which was held at Cafe Ruchee, in Bentley Centre where he is allowed to eat salad only.

On 17th December, Bentley Primary School organized the End Year Concert (cum Christmas Concert). The children were participating in their class performance. Students also were given rewards for their achievements (just like Hari Kecemerlangan at Malaysia). Alhamdulillah Zarif was awarded for his achievement in English and Mathematics.

On 21st December, Curtin's Muslim Student Society organized the Aidiladha Festival at the University oval. There were food stalls and games for children such as merry-go-round, dragon train, jumping castle, camel ride, soccer and others. The children were enjoying themselves.

Masya-Allah.....it has been a long time I did not blog in...too many things to do and I neglected Lavendar Harum. Anyhow, we are very happy because nenek and Aqilah (my mother in law and my niece) are coming to Perth. They came on 2nd December 2008 landed at 4.50p.m (Perth time). My children have been counting the days for their nenek to come, and they were cheering her with stories and events at the moment nenek reached our home. Unfortunately, my children are still schooling. Their holiday will start on 18th December. Therefore, my niece Aqilah is quite boring at home while her cousins at school.

Last week end, we brought them to Fremantle for shopping and sightseeing. Only 'Iffah followed us, others wanted to stay at home and play their PS2. Boys....shopping is boring for them.
Going to Fremantle we hopped on a bus and two trains (macam jauh jer yek). Actually we can only go by bus, but just wanted Aqilah to enjoy the journey by train. I purchased family rider ticket. This ticket can be used to ride the bus and train for the whole day. This is one of the good things here, the facilities for public are excellent that make people like to travel using public transports.

After arriving, we decided to go for sightseeing first before doing the shopping.

Recent event...

First event I want to share here is pasar malam (night market)! I've been here in Perth for about 9 months, and I missed pasar malam. Luckily, on last October, International Students Association of CUT organized pasar malam. My husband and I with two of my youngest children went there after solat Maghrib. Many stalls were opened by the students as well as outsiders who were permanent residents and some of them the owner of restaurants. But majority of the hawkers were chinese. There were satay, nasi lemak, briyani, hot dog, ayam percik, cendol and many others. The most in demand food was satay, very long queue, 6 skew of satay for 5 dollars. Pasar malam in Malaysia we listen to the songs played by cd's seller, here we listen the songs played by live band, Malay songs in the middle of university's field, cool!!

The children have started their last term of school. This term many activities were planned. Syarafi and 'Iffah joined the Author club, which they learned to create stories, poem to develop their writing and thinking skills. Zarif joined the After School which is more towards physical activities. Afiq and Hasif, no extra activities... In recent assembly 'Iffah was awarded the certificate for excellent work in writing stories on Power Point. (awarded by Author Club).

Yesterday, 20th November 2008, my husband and I went to BBQ party at Burswood Park to celebrate our friends that are going back to Malaysia. Some of them go back because they have finished their study and some of them go back for practical. It touched my heart.....I wanna go back toooo!!!! I miss my home, my family, my colleague and friends, and I miss my Boss!! Be strong heart, June next year we shall going back to Malaysia! These are the pictures that I managed to snap.

Life is full of test and exam

Life.....what do we want our life to be? Always happy, everything is easy, no ups and downs, no stumbling blocks, everything goes as we want it to be.....yeahhh...perfecto! It do sounds good, but is it really interesting? Its not colourful though....

Ups and downs, stumbling block, thunder and lightnings are parts of our life....all those are the test and exam for us, to score and learn from. They make our life more exciting, adventurous and special.

People do make mistakes, nobody is perfect except our Prophet. But those mistakes are the lessons from Allah for us to learn from and improve ourselves. I always pray that Allah give me strength and courage in experiencing all the tests and exams in my life.

By the way, congratulation to my nephews and cousins who got excellent result in UPSR recently. Good luck for those who have taken PMR, surely looking forward to get the result, and good luck for those who currently sitting for SPM, do your best!

My husband also finished his final exam for semester two last Friday. Hopefully success will become yours sweetheart!

Reptiles!!

When talk about reptile, the first animal come to my mind is snake or serpent! Eeeee! Imagine its scales skin long body, wild eyes, scary tongue, killing venom........its always been the creature I avoid of. However, recently, on 9th October 2008, I brought my children to the reptiles show at the Bentley Library. I knew, there must be snakes they showed up, for the sake of knowledge and experience, I chose to be courage. My children? They looking forward and excited to go!

The people from the Reptilians Centre came to explain on the reptiles. They brought along snakes (pythons), blue tongue lizards and bobtail lizards(also the family of blue tongue lizard) . The children were given the chance to touch them. How brave they are!!

Majlis dimulakan dengan ucapan Pengerusi persatuan diikuti dengan marhaban beramai-ramai. Majlis ini juga dihadiri oleh wakil Konsulat Malaysia. Masing-masing membawa juadah untuk dikongsi bersama. Pada pagi raya, Papa, Afiq, Syarafi dan Zarif bersiap sedia untuk ke masjid menumpang kereta kawan yang baik hati. Oleh kerana melebihi muatan kenderaan, saya, 'Iffah dan Hasif hanya menunggu di rumah menyiapkan apa yang patut. Mereka bersolat di Masjid Al-Hidayah di Hepburn Avenue, dalam 20 minit perjalanan dari rumah kami (dengan keretalah). Majoriti yang bersolat di sini adalah orang Melayu, ada dari Malaysia, Brunei, Singapura dan Indonesia. Masjid ini dikenali dengan masjid Malaysia. Lihatlah siapa yang merasmikannya.

Selesai bersolat kami ke rumah rakan-rakan yang menjemput ke rumah terbuka mereka, dua trip kawan kami Syarifuddin membawa kami ke sana. Terima kasih kami ucapkan.

Petang pula kami ke rumah Saudara Hakim, Presiden Persatuan Pelajar Postgrad di Perth, sayangnya kami terlupa bawa kamera, takdalah rakaman gambar di sana.....

Hari Raya kedua pula kami menerima kunjungan adik-adik undergrad tajaan JPA dan Petronas, riuh dibuatnya dek lawak jenaka mereka.

Mereka dijamu mee sup tulang dan mee kari, ketupat rendang tak ketinggalan.

Afiq, Syarafi dan Zarif teringin nak jadi orang bujang, mengikut abang-abang pergi berjalan. Tinggallah Hasif dan 'Iffah menanti kedatangan rakan-rakan yang lain. Sibuk melayan terlupa pula nak ambil gambar mereka yang datang....

Berakhirlah sudah Ramadhan, Syawal pula berlalu pergi, berbagai-bagai perasaan bercampur baur; sedih, sebak, gembira, terharu dan bermacam-macam lagi. Jauh di sudut hati mengharapkan limpah kurnia rahmat dari Allah S.W.T. semoga segala ibadah diterima dan terus diberi kekuatan untuk menambahkan amalan buat bekalan di hari muka.

Alhamdulillah, kami sekeluarga di bumi asing Australia ini amat bersyukur kerana diberi peluang menikmati pengalaman beraya di perantauan. Ini adalah pengalaman yang amat berharga terutama buat anak-anak yang tetap gembira walaupun terdetak di hati kerinduan buat nenek, bapa-bapa saudara, ibu-ibu saudara dan sepupu-sepapat. Kami bertuah kerana ramai penduduk Melayu Malaysia yang tinggal di sekitar Perth dan dapat kami meraikan bersama-sama Aidilfitri yang mulia.

Di hari akhir puasa, kami menjemput rakan-rakan terdekat untuk berbuka puasa dan bertakbir bersama. Cukup meriah terutama dengan keriuhan anak-anak. Ketupat, rendang dan pencuci mulut yang mula dimasak seusai bersahur menjadi hidangan ditambah lagi dengan juadah yang dibawa rakan-rakan; ada roti telur, pizza, pide(makanan Turki), sayur-sayuran, puding, corn beef biscuit dan lain-lain lagi. Terima kasih buat rakan-rakan yang bersusah payah membawa makanan, juga sudi datang ke rumah malahan ada yang membawa bunga api, apa lagi seronoklah anak-anak!

Inilah antara juadah, baru satu meja, ada dua tempat lagi tak ambil gambar!

In this fasting month, I like to try new recipes. (Actually I am out of idea what to cook for berbuka, so I search for recipes...hehehe). Last week I try this pudding, Caramel Bread Pudding, hmmmm...delicious! I got the recipe from hanieliza.fotopages.com. But I modified a little because I don't have the ingredients. Cocktail juice I replaced with orange juice, so my pudding taste of orange, yummy..., I can't find custard flour so I change it with cornflour...And I add cream. Try it...

Ingredient A:
1/2 cup of sugar - melt it in the mould (atau loyang) that to be used for steaming.

Ingredient B:
1 loaf of bread (about 10 slices) 1 tin of evaporated milk
1 tin of cocktail/peach juice
2 eggs
1/2 cup of sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 Tablespoon custard flour

Preparation
1. Heat the steamer
2. Mix well all the ingredients B except fruit cocktail (sieve the juice) - ( I blend them)
3. Put in the mould that has the melted sugar
4. Cover the mould with plastic wrap.
5. Steam for about 30 minutes.
6. Let it cold and then flip over big plate. Put the fruit cocktail/peach on top of it.

On 11th September 2008, Hasif's and 'Iffah's class organize the excursion to AQWA Center (its like Aqua at KLCC). Weeks before the trip, they sell muffin to cover the transportation cost, thus we only pay a small amount for entrance fee..that was the good effort, and the children love the muffins, only one dollar each. Unfortunately, no picture of them at AQWA, only the picture before they departed.

One day on our way to school in the morning, we saw beautiful birds that are very rare to see in Malaysia ( I never saw them in Malaysia, what about you?). The birds were not afraid of us even when we came closed, they still enjoy what they were doing and not fly away....Look at the pinky birds....

Faction Carnival

At last.......Faction Carnival that my children were excitedly looking forward was successfully done on 5th September 2008. The event was held from 9.30a.m. till 3.00p.m. There was slight confusion on my children faction, last term they were in Gold faction but this term they were said to be in Blue faction, even the teacher were confused, once they were told to go to Gold faction but their name were not in the list then they were put in blue faction. But the children were ready with blue faction shirts. Whatever it was, they were still in enthusiastic sport spirits...Go loves go! In the morning they competed in the tabloid sports such as passing ball, throwing the ball ( like the shot put), long jump etc. For Pre-Primary children they played the simple game such as throw the ball in the circle, running. In the afternoon they started the athletic event, 100 meters, 200 meters and so on. At the end of the competition, the winner was Gold faction with 556 marks, followed by Blue faction with 504 marks and Red faction with 456 marks. Syarafi won 5 gold and 1 silver; Zarif won 1 gold, 4 silvers and 1 fourth place; 'Iffah won 2 gold, 2 silvers and 2 bronzes; and Hasif won 1 gold and 4 silvers. The school not given out the medal or cup or presents like in Malaysia, they only gave out the colourful ribbon stated the winner place and pinned on the shirts, but the children were more than happy.

The good thing was Syarafi and Zarif managed to fast until Maghrib eventhough they tired out themselves during the day. Unfortunately 'Iffah cannot make it, she fast until 1.00p.m. only, Hasif as usual until lunch time.

NAIDOC DAY

Here I want to share the excitement of the children in celebrating the NAIDOC Day two days ago. I was not able to go due to some other commitments but through their stories I figured they have enjoyed themselves very much. They told me about a policeman that can made various sound such as ambulance, animal sounds etc using his voice (just like Lan Pet Pet Senario). They painted the bags, boomerangs and faces. They made necklaces and bangles using the beads. The year six and seven students done the calendar scrap and painted the aboriginal arts, also painted the Aboriginal flag.

I think Australia has done a good job to instill the knowledge and awareness in respecting their Aborigines to their children. May be we in Malaysia also can think of something to give knowledge to our children about our aborigines. What do you think Malaysian?

First of all I would like to wish all Ramadhan Al Mubarak. Alhamdulillah, we have been given another opportunity to grab the Barakah of this month. Hopefully our fasting is getting better than previous, more ibadah, tadarrus and be kind to others (reminder to myself, I aim to finish recite the Al-Quran, I only managed to read half of the Kitab last year.)

Along with Ramadhan, the season also changing in Australia. We are in Spring now, but still chill during night and morning. Alhamdulillah we have beautiful days, less rain and the best part we can feel the warmness of sun, maklumlah, winter tak nampak matahari sangat.

Those who love flowers take the chance to go to the garden for flowers watching. Some of them go to Araluen to see tulips, some go to Margaret River to see lavendars. But due to transport problem, furthermore we have to pay about $25 just to watch flower, we decide not to go.

During this fasting month, there are many activites held by the schools, especially sports. This coming Friday the Primary school will organise Faction day. I hope the children will be strong and able to fast after all the runnings and jumpings. But I will bring water supply and foods in case they were not. So far, they completed their fast except Hasif. He only fasting until lunch hour. Pity to Along, his school organize river cruise today but he cannot go because the program will be ended at 8.30p.m. It is a problem to us to fetch him (we don't have car) furthermore its Solat Tarawikh time. Hopefully, one day we will be able to bring him for river cruising.

Today also the Primary school is organizing NAIDOC day...the day to celebrate the Aborigines and the Torres Islander. I wonder what are the activities, may be they will paint their face like the Aborigines and dance their traditional dancing. But for sure, they will serve Kangaroo stew for lunch, luckily the children are fasting. I have to tell Hasif several times not to eat the kangaroo because its not halal, he will say, "Ok, Mum!". Sodap gak daging kangaroo ek, tapi halal butcher kat sini tak juallah plak daging ni.

My First Trial

Hai! See ya again! My children and I have been longing to eat doughnut. Since 6 months we're here, we didn't taste any. Of course, there're many doughnuts sell at the shopping centre but its not halal. My hubby said at his uni there's one stall that sell halal doughnut. Craving for it, last Friday I asked him to buy the doughnut. Yeeaahh!!! My children were happy they got chocolate doughnut! But, Masha-Allah, five doughnuts cost my hubby more than 11 AUD, one doughnut was about $2.50.

Then, I surfed through the internet looking for the recipe, I found one! Without delayed, I tried to cook the doughnut. The taste was good and it was soft too.My children were more than happy and I felt satisfied, no need to buy doughnut anymore!

This is my first doughnut, yummy!

The recipe:

Ingredients

31/2 teaspoon of instant dry yeast
1/4 cup of warm water
11/2 cup of fresh milk (room temperature or heated)
1/2 cup castor sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1/3 cup of butter
5 cups of plain flour
oil for frying
optional: potato mashed

Direction

1. Mix warm water and yeast in a big bowl, leave it for 5 minutes or until foamy.
2. Add in milk, salt, sugar, egg, butter and 2 cups plain flour. Mix them thoroughly. Add gradually the rest of the plain flour until it form a dough. Knead the dough until it become smooth and unsticky.
3. Cover the bowl with damp cloth or plastic wrap, leave the dough in the room temperature until it raise up two times of its original size.
4. Sprinkle flour on the rolling board, roll the dough for about 1/2 inch thick, cut the dough with doughnut cutter.
5. Cover the dough ut with dry cloth and leave it for about 30 minutes.
6. Heat the oil, fry with low/medium heat until golden colour.
7. Sprinkle the icing sugar or castor sugar while it still hot.

On the same day, may be I was in the mood of trying new recipes, I also made the Lemon Cheesecake (I miss Secret Recipe's cake). But my cheesecake was not so firm, I have to put in the freezer and it cannot be out of the freezer for a long time, we have to eat it immediately! But it taste delicious! The recipe:

Ingredients

1 1/2 cup cookies crumbs
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup margarine - melted
1 (1/4 ounce) plain jelly
1/3 cup cold water
1/3 cup lemon juice
3 large eggs, separated
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon lemon, rind of, grated
16 ounce cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup sugar

Direction

1. Combine crumbs, 1/4 cup sugar and margarine, reserve 1/2 cup.
2. Press remaining onto bottom of 9 inch springform pan.
3. Soften jelly in water, stir over low heat until dissolved
4. Add juice, egg yolks, 1/4 cup sugar and peel, cook, stirring constantly over medium heat for 5 minutes.
5. Gradually add to cream cheese, mixing at medium speed on electric mixer until well blended.
6. Beat eggs whites until foamy, gradually add remaining 1/4 cup sugar beating until stiff peak form.
7. Fold into cream cheese mixture, pour over crust.
8. Top with reserved crumbs, chill until firm.

(I also add 250ml whipping cream)

School Talents

Bonjour! In this post I would like to share with you the talented students of Bentley Primary School who performed amazingly and full of confident during the school assembly. The first presentation was from 'Iffah's class. They were telling a story of "No More Pet!". The second performance was from Zarif's class. They acted the character of their teachers. Zarif played the role of Mr. Crossley, the Deputy Principal. After the assembly, Mr.Crossley praised Zarif and called him the cool version of Mr.Crossley. Enjoy yourself!

Peluang yang terpaksa dipinggirkan

Dah seminggu tak jenguk blog ni. Maklumlah, sekarang ni hubby dah mula sibuk dengan tugasannya dan saya pula dah mula semula menjaga Hawari, masa agak terhad. Sememangnya masa amat bernilai, sedikit kita leka maka semua perancangan jadi huru hara.

Di sini bukanlah soal masa yang ingin saya perkatakan, tapi yang berkaitan dengannya, iaitu peluang. Dalam hidup kita, banyak peluang yang datang kepada kita dalam pelbagai cara dan keadaan. Tak kiralah dari sekecil-kecil peluang hinggalah ke sebesar-besar peluang. Persoalannya, adakah kita dapat meraih semua peluang yang tiba? Tanpa melepaskan satupun...?

Dalam hidup saya, saya sedar banyak peluang yang menjengah. Banyak yang saya gapai dan banyak juga yang saya lepaskan pergi, peluang-peluang yang terpaksa dipinggirkan.... Beberapa peluang besar yang saya masih ingat saya pinggirkan, ketika tingkatan lima, Mak dan Buya hendak menuanaikan haji ke Mekah. Mereka bercadang untuk membawa saya sekali. Sayapun disuruh menghafal bacaan-bacaan dan do'a yang perlu. Tetapi malangnya, tarikh peperiksaan lisan SPM ditetapkan pula dalam tempoh saya sepatutnya berada di Mekah, maka terpaksa saya pinggirkan peluang ini..

Pada tahun 90-an, waktu Universiti Multimedia baru ditubuhkan di Melaka, mereka menawarkan beberapa jawatan kosong. Saya dan suami melihat ini peluang yang baik untuk pulang bekerja di tanah kelahiran beliau, maka kami memohon jawatan yang bersesuaian. Saya mendapat panggilan interview dan ditawarkan pekerjaan, tapi malangnya suami tidak. Maka satu lagi peluang yang dipinggirkan...

Baru-baru ini, saya mendapat tahu Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi menawarkan Hadiah Latihan Pengajian untuk pegawai bukan akademik bagi tahun 2009. Saya amat teruja, kerana ini adalah peluang yang saya tunggu-tunggu. Tambahan pula saya sekarang berada di Perth menemani suami menyambung pelajaran, kenapa tidak saya ambil peluang untuk melanjutkan pelajaran. Permohonan saya sebelum ini ditolak oleh majikan kerana polisi tidak membenarkan saya, seorang pegawai bidang pentadbiran melanjutkan pengajian ke luar negara. Bidang yang ingin saya terokai pula sememangnya ada di Malaysia tetapi masih boleh dikatakan baru sedangkan di sini bidang ini telah begitu meluas. Kaunseling di sini sudah mantap dan tiada masalah untuk praktikum kerana banyak tempat yang boleh saya sertai untuk menajamkan kemahiran. Memang amat cantik sekali peluang ini untuk kemajuan diri saya dan mereka yang akan saya bantu...Malangnya, sekali lagi peluang yang besar ini terpaksa saya pinggirkan. Suami akan menamatkan pelajaran pada Jun 2009 dan perlu melaporkan diri semula ke jabatan. Sekiranya saya melanjutkan pelajaran, saya perlukan dua tahun untuk bidang saya bermakna sehingga 2011. Apa akan jadi dengan anak-anak? Sememangnya ada pelajar yang meninggalkan suami dan anak-anak atau meninggalkan suami dan membawa anak-anak bersama untuk melanjutkan pelajaran...Namun bagi saya, keluarga adalah lebih penting, selagi kami boleh bersama, biarlah kami tetap bersama kerana kitapun tak tahu sehingga bila kita boleh bersama..Allah maha Berkuasa.

Walaupun peluang yang tiba nampak begitu cantik dan bagus sekali, tetapi banyak perkara di sebaliknya yang perlu disemak, dikaji dan dipertimbangkan, maka apalah salahnya peluang itu dipinggirkan.....kerna pasti ada yang lebih baik untuk kita.

Mak...Buya

Lately, I always thinking of Mak and Buya. How I miss them very much.....but what can I do, they are not here for me to say that directly, only du'a that bring me closer to them. I regret that I do not show my love, my care towards them when they were still alive. I was busy starting my own life. Actually, its quite disappointed that I cannot fulfill my dream to build better house for them, to go together to Makkah for Hajj, because they gone while I, myself was striving for better life. I never done enough for my parents and I will never did, even though if they were still alive. Their love and sacrifices will never be reciprocated. I know, there's no turning back, only the memories that I hug dear to my heart... This song illustrate my feelings..Why I do not really appreciate the good things while I had them but then mourn when I loose them??
