School holiday activities

During the winter school holiday, my children spent most of their time at home due to cold weather and showers. They also spent some time at Bentley Library participating in several activities organised by the library and borrowing some books and cds. On 10th July, Zarif, 'Iffah and Hasif joined one of the activities, learning about bubbles which was conducted by Scitech. They were taught about the connection between air and bubble, why the shape of the bubble is sphere and how to make different sizes of bubbles. The interesting part was that they were shown how human was put into bubble. At the end of the session, of course, they were given the chance to play with bubbles. Last but not least, let's share the ingredients to make bubble mixture - easy and cheap.

Bubble Making Mixture

What you will need:

- 3 teaspoons of glycerine

- 1/4 cup of dishwashing liquid

- 1/2 cup of water

- A jar

- Spare sheets of newspaper to protect from spills

What to do:

Lay down some newspaper before beginning!

1. Mix 3 teaspoons of glycerine with 1/4 cup of dishwashing liquid and 1/2 cup of water in a screw top jar.

2. Using straws and paper clips construct a square, rectangle or any other shapes you can think of and dip into the bubble solution and blow!
